DeVon Franklin continues to stands by his wife Meagan Good in the face of those who still criticize her attire on and off the red carpet.
The two married in 2012 after meeting on the set of his movie Jumping the Broom (he produced the film alongside T.D. Jakes) in which she also starred in. They’ve also become known outside of Hollywood, as a prominent couple on the religious front with DeVon being a minister. They speak openly about waiting until they were married to have sex for the first time.
The actress, who’s not shy about showing off her famous parts stays under fire for her choice of clothing while being married to a devout minister.
One of Meagan’s most infamous looks and probably the dress that received the most criticism was the low cut gown she wore to the 2013 BET Awards.
He spoke at the 2015 Essence Festival about the media’s obsession with her appearance and how he’s not in the business of changing who she is.
“I don’t own her [and] she doesn’t own me. We are together and I respect whatever she chooses to put on. When I married her, I said, ‘I accept you for who you are. And whatever you choose to wear, that is your right.”
On the infamous blue dress:
“I saw her right before she walked out, and I said, ‘Amen…praise the Lord (laughs).”
Meagan took to Instagram after the panel to gush on her husband defending her honor.
