A 13-year-old Chicago boy was arrested Sunday and charged as a juvenile with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting his 16-year-old sleeping cousin, Raymond Galloway in the head. According to police, the youths had been arguing about the $500 Xbox gaming system, which is the “It” toy of the season, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The boy, whose name has been withheld because of his age, allegedly used a 9mm semi-automatic handgun that officers discovered in the home; the weapon’s cartridge was uncovered in the teen’s bedroom.

Investigators do not know where the boy obtained the weapon.

Police officials say that the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead two hours later.

When the tween was interrogated by officers, he allegedly admitted to them that he pulled the trigger and shot his cousin in the head over the gaming system. The child’s mother was also present when the middle schooler made his startling confession.

So far, no adults have been charged with any crimes. The child is being held in custody as ordered by a juvenile court judge.
