NEW YORK (AP) — Stevie Wonder says he won’t perform in Florida and other states with a “stand your ground” law.

In a video posted on YouTube, the 63-year-old singer said at a concert in Quebec City, Canada, on Sunday “that until the ‘stand your ground’ law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again.”

Wonder added: “Wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world.”

The “stand your ground” law allows people to use deadly force if they believe their life is in danger.

George Zimmerman shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin during a February 2012 confrontation in Sanford, Fla. Zimmerman said he fired his gun in self-defense.

A six-member jury acquitted Zimmerman of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges on Saturday.

Wonder’s representative said the singer had no further comment.

  1. … and TJ should follow suit. Boycott Florida, and have the family reunion at another location. I’m sure there are other states willing to host such a moneymaker.

We’ll see how long Mr. Stevie keeps his promise when he see’s how much money he is missing out on this absurd idea. Let’s have Stevie pay for all the funerals of the people killed by criminals because they can’t protect themselves. Just another typical liberal with an assine idea because things didn’t go they’re way, besides his concerts are a 4 on a 1 to scale anyway.

I wish TJ would follow suit, especially with his annual family reunion. A whole lotta $$$ going into the economy of a state that admittedly don’t give a cahoot about his black a**.

    • That’s a great idea. Also, if he didn’t use their port for the cruise. Florida needs to feel it in the pocket. Money talks and bullcrap runs the marathon.

I hope we can start a movement where we hit Florida in the pocket. That along with a hurricane will cripple them. I usually go there with my family twice a year, but told my husband that we will not vacation there any time soon. I wouldn’t want anyone to note fearful of us.

That’s why we love Stevie. He does what is right and just and not what is popular or hurts his pocket. God bless Stevie!!
