Pastors across the country are having a serious problem leading their flocks with all of the temptations that stem from  the power they wield over their congregations.

Pastor Ira V. Hilliard of New Light Church in Houston, Texas, is using his powerful pulpit to ask some of his congregation via e-mail for donations to fix his helicopter.

The jet belongs to him and his wife, according to Fox 26 Houston. He’s had the church’s emblem placed on the wing of the jet, but federal records reveal different.

The popular preacher e-mailed certain members of his congregation for $52 donations and promised they’d be blessed if they helped out.

The Raw Story shared the e-mail that read:

“Do you need better transportation?” he asked in the e-mail. “Do you have a dream vehicle or luxury automobile you long to purchase?”

“I believe with all my heart this message is for you and your doing something today is the key to releasing this favor on your transportation situation!” the letter states. “Send me the transportation need or your dream you have by completing the online petition when you sow a $52.00 transportation favor seed believing in 52 days or 52 weeks you will experience a breakthrough favor!”

What do you think? Is it ok for the pastor to ask his congregation for help to fix his helicopter?

I read a book a few years ago called snakes in the pulpit and it talked about a few of these mega pastors. Not all pastors are crooks ,however there enough to make you wonder. Also Fred Price wife wrote a book about pastors I want to say it was called Pimps in the pulpit can’t remember. At any rate the church should be for the community and to serve god unfortunately the only one getting served is the pastor.

  2. T.D. Jakes, Paula White, Creflo Dollar (the last name SHOULD say it all), etc., pimp and use people for profit. From their TBN “Praise-a-thon’s”, to their $20, $50, $100, $1,0000 plus lines, to the ridiculous and absurd! Wake up people! Read your Bibles and use spirtual discernment.

  3. Hilliard’s BEEN a pimp ever since he had his 1st church! This dude maileded out “Prayer Cloths” telling people (including me) that it was a “point of contact” to God. This pimpery has been going on since the 1st century with Simon the Sorcerer in Acts 8:18.

  4. Pimpin’ Pastors come a dime a dozen. Can’t blame them if people are stupid enough to give them their money. What baffles me is the people that want to know what President Obama, or the government is going to do for black people. I say what is/has the black church done for black people over the years? In my estimation not very much. Most churches/pastors are nothing but scams. Most pastors have gotten used to being taken care of over the years, and now are spoiled. Their congregations can’t see the forest for the trees.

I have lived in several difference cities over the past 11 years, and I have never, ever, ever, ever, been able to access any resources from any of the local “Black” churches within my community for any of my clients.
They will usually ask if you are a member of a church and if you tried to access services from them.
Over all for generations “Black” congregations have long supported and maintained these ridiculous standards living for these pastors.
From the lavish anniversary gifts to helping raise money to send the pastor’s children to college. ?Are you a**holes blind.
Call the “Rev” and tell him you have fallen on hard times and need somewhere to stay for a couple of months until you get on your feet. And get back with me and let me know if he can accommodate you in that big lavish mansion you paid.
This is soley why I refuse to join, visit or even support any Black church.

I don’t have a problem with this preacher asking for money to repair his helicopter. Preachers have scammed (legally and illegally) Black folks for decades. Why do we continue to put up with it?

Pimps, Pastors & prostitutes, I have more respect for the pimps & the prostitutes. They show their true color.

PASTOR is RICH: To own a helicopter, you are RICH. The pastor’s request for donations REVEAL why a RICH MAN is less likely to enter into the gates of Heaven–instead of relying on GOD, the pastor relies on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Jesus also warned there would be many wolves in sheep clothing & to be careful not to believe them b/c he did not send them. If ppl trust in God & pray more…they can discern who is of God! Jesus died for us & it was a free gift for us…we dont have o pay anyone for favor. My GOD shall supply all my needs…he didnt say otherwise.

    • Truth: If Truth be Told” where is your god/jesus when it comes to so many people unemployed, houses in foreclosure, etc.? I’m talking about people that have been faithful to the church/god for 20, or 30 years. Where’s the reward in that? No offense but some people are so naïve when it comes to religion. Oh well……what ever works for you. The god thing from a common sense point of view doesn’t work for me at all.

    • Thank you Sylvester Bonds & Shawn!

That helo is THE only aircraft I’ve ever declined to test fly after Maintenance, bcoz that jerkoff doesn’t pay his bills, & cuts corners on Maint.

His spazzo idiot pilot Tony, “The Italian Stallion” (with a Czech surname…) is at the top of my “No-Fly-With” list.

If that wasn’t bad enuf, IVH treats the off-duty cops in his security detail like Untouchables, as well.

      Scumbag! (Many will say, “Lord,lord…))

Jesus never said foolishness like this. It would have been better to let them know he needed new propellers, instead of scamming in the name of the Lord. These are the same people who put out an email with a list of expensive items the wife suggested be purchased for her birthday. They are unscrupulous people win Good will pay unkind for misleading and fleecing the flock. I just wish the flock would stop believing that they are sowing financial seeds in someone’s account, that isn’t theirs.

Jesus Did Say Something Like This:

Mark 11:2-3 (NASB) 2 and *said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. 3 “If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ you say, ‘The Lord has need of it’; and immediately he will send it back here.”

Now, I don’t agree with Dr. Hillard’s doctrine or methods and I never would employ such tactics but I have learned not to be so quick to judge and condemn the beliefs and actions of others. The members of that Church also believe this and those that send the $52 make a choice to do so.

However, I was wondering if I wanted my transportation breakthrough in one day or one week instead of 52 should I send one dollar instead of $52.

When Jesus requsted the colt, it was to fulfill scripture of him riding on a colt. This preacher is putting an unnecssary burden on the people. Jesus turned tables in the temple when the pharisees in his day were burdening the people by charging them for sacrifices. A man of God receives free, so he should give free.
