DETROIT (AP) — A 26-year-old woman is charged with murder in the stabbing death of her 8-year-old daughter in their Detroit home.

Detroit police responding to a 911 call found Tameria Greene unresponsive early Sunday morning on the floor of the family’s near east side apartment. The girl had been stabbed in the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the mother, Semeria Greene, was charged Wednesday with felony murder and first-degree child abuse. Tameria would have celebrated her 9th birthday on Wednesday.

Greene is scheduled for arraignment Thursday. It wasn’t immediately clear whether she has a lawyer.

A conviction on the murder charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole. The child abuse charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.

Oh how I pray that people would spare children these senseless deaths. If this woman was that angry, then she should have sent the child out of the house to a friend or relative. Jesus, my heart aches for this child. I have custody of some of my grandchildren. It wasn’t that they were in trouble of neglect, I just saw my daughter getting too stressed. So, I stepped in and asked her is there anything I can do to ease her load. The bible teaches that we MUST think more highly of others than we do ourselves. We MUST be willing to make these kinds of sacrifices for the sake of these children. I have a grand daughter this same age. I would probably drop dead of a heart attack if something happened to her. Oh Lord, please keep our children safe from this evil.

obviously mentally ill. Just another shining example why people need to find a place in God in their lifes. It would have helped heal her mental woes.
Just for giggals. Has anyone noticed that most of the mental ill are born into large cities, especially large cities that have left God at the city limits
A little hard work goes a long ways into the healthy development of a young mind. And keeping a prayer in your heart will never hurt.
