Known for her curvy physique, tennis champion, Serena Williams who is listed at 5'10 and 160lbs has come out to defend junior tennis star, Taylor Townsend.

This week a story broke that the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) reportedly denied Townsend a trip to the U.S. Open Juniors because they believe she is overweight.

Townsend is 6'2 and weighs 170lbs, she is also the No. 1 ranked girls junior at just 16-years-old but she was not able to attend the event which has left many people scratching their heads.

Serena Williams said in an interview with ESPN, "If that happened, that's obviously a tragedy, because everyone deserves to play. … Women athletes come in all different sizes and shapes and colors and everything. I think you can see that more than anywhere on the tennis tour."

Williams is arguably the greatest women's player of all time, so hopefully her speaking out will lead the way for Townsend.

What a shame! They’re just afraid this young lady will become the next great African American female tennis player. Is this a new rule? I’ve never heard of someone being denied to play tennis because of their height or weight.
