A cooked squid inseminated a 63-year–old woman’s mouth in South Korea.

According to the report in the Journal of Parasitology, the woman experienced severe pain in her mouth when she bit into the food and spit it out.  She reported feeling a lingering “prickling” feeling shortly after.

Doctors later found “small, white spindle-shaped bug-like organisms” lodged in her mouth, cheek, and tongue.

Although the food was boiled, the squid’s spermatophores, also known as sperm bags were alive and able to eject and cement in the sperm’s wall.

A squid’s internal organs are typically removed prior to cooking in most Western world cooking practices.
