After three seasons each, TV One has officially cancelled its reality show “R&B Divas Atlanta” and comedy “The Rickey Smiley Show.”

The fate of the shows was already greenlit by those who ran the network before its recent takeover by former Turner and UP-TV executive Brad Siegel, according to the Atlanta Journal- Constitution.

The newspaper goes on to mention that the cancellations were coming in light of doubts surrounding the renewal of the shows, which were on the bubble for months.

Despite drawing decent ratings (366,000 viewers for season three counting three days of DVR usage), “R&B Divas Atlanta” consistently lost key cast member such as Faith Evans and Nicci Gilbert, who left after season two, along with LaTocha Scott. In addition, season three divas Angie Stone, LaTavia Roberson have decided not to return as well as Keke Wyatt.

According to Syleena Johnson, her, Kameelah Williams and original diva Monifah Carter were the only ones willing to move forward with “R&B Divas Atlanta,” which aired its final reunion show on July 9, 2014.

Like “R&B Divas Atlanta,” “The Rickey Smiley Show” suffered from dwindling ratings. The show, which presented a fictionalized version of Smiley’s real life, with a family and a radio show, attracted promising ratings initially, but suffered over time as viewers lessened.

Although its time at TV One is coming to a close, Roger Bobb, one of the show’s executive producers, admitted in an email to the Journal-Constitution that “The Rickey Smiley” is headed to another network. Despite the revelation, Bobb wasn’t able to reveal which network at this time. The last episode of “The Rickey Smiley Show” aired June 12, 2014.

The departure of “The Rickey Smiley Show” and “R&B Divas Atlanta” has dealt Atlanta a serious blow, but the city will continue to benefit from TV One.

Among the Atlanta-based shows the channel has is “Born Again Virgin,” a scripted comedy whose pilot aired in February. The comedy, which has begun production in the A, is set to debut on TV One in the summer.

In addition, TV One voiced its commitment to shows that have been and will be produced in Atlanta, including the recently shot “To Hell and Back” with Ernie Hudson here and next month’s “For the Love of Ruth.”
