Dior Casts Black Models For The First Time In 6 Seasons
Fashion house Dior recently released their new collection, in Paris during fashion week, and for the first time ever, cast Black models, reports theGrio. Historically, Dior only hired white models, but according to reports, they decided to diversify their show.
Designer, Raf Simmons, explained the inspiration for the show as, “women from different continents and cultures who wear couture.” Critics were upset about the fact that black models may have only been used in order to further his multicultural theme.
Despite this topic, black fashion leaders are proud of the change in Dior’s casting. However, the issue of race in the fashion industry, is still an ongoing debate.
