Mel B first burst onto the scene as a part of the international pop group The Spice Girls. Long after the group went their separate ways, Mel has remained relevant in the public eye, and most recently as a new judge for “America’s Got Talent.“
The busy mom (or as she pronounced it ‘mum’) of four only had five minutes (four minutes and 59 seconds to be exact) for a quick phoner. We talked about her workout regimen, the advice she would give to Scary Spice if she auditioned and a host others. Oh, did I mention we were able to squeeze in some talk of nipple tassels? Yeah, it was good times all around.
Mel B: Well, I did many auditions in my youth, but I would tell her to do as many auditions as possible. Auditioning helps you build a resistance to hearing the word no. You find out what works and what doesn’t work so yeah, auditioning as much as possible.
HelloBeautiful: Why should viewers and the contestants trust your critique?
Mel B: Well because I’ve seen it, and I’ve done it. I’ve done Broadway. I have a show in Vegas, I’m a singer, a performer a writer.
HelloBeautiful: What feeling do you get when someone you see with honest pure talent walks across the stage?
Mel B: I get so thrilled. I’m like “OMG where have you been!?”
HelloBeautiful: Anybody can be famous these days, all you need is Wi-Fi, but in your opinion what does it take to be a star?
Mel B: Well you have to have talent. It’s just that simple. That’s just life. There’s always going to be someone better than you, but you just have to work hard and have talent.
