Tyra and Drake together? Yes, but only for one night. Before you head to your blogs to report this bit of celebrity gossip, know that it’s for a good cause. Drake will perform at Banks’ Flawsome Ball, the annual charity ball she hosts to support The Tyra Banks TZone. The ball will be held at the Lower East Side Girls Club, which has partnered with Tyra Banks T Zone in a new building that is the first for the Model mogul hosts charity ball in NYCorganization. The TZone, billed as a Leadership Development Center, will be a part of the new building with programming aimed at three specific age groups: 8-11, 12-15, and 16-18. Banks founded the TZone in 1999 as an overnight camp for girls to boost self-esteem. The Flawsome Ball is named for Banks’ reference to girls with flaws who are still awesome. The Ball will be held at the Lower East Side Girl’s Club on October 18th.
"Through this partnership, my lifelong mission of raising the self-esteem of young women and empowering them to feel beautiful inside and out can be realized for years to come," Banks said in a statetment. "It's exciting that TZONE is now a physical space, as creating a place like this for girls has always been a dream of mine."
Banks has some top-notch supporters from media, design, fashion and entertainment. Famed celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson will cater the event, supermodel Christy Turlington Burns, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, Rosario Dawson, designers Jonathan Adler and Georgina Chapman and TV host Padma Lakshmi are among the celebrities on the host committee.
