Look for longtime HBCU supporter Bill Cosby in the stands at the Nation’s Football Classic on Sept. 10.

They’re at it again.

The Howard University Bison and the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College, the storied football rivals that have met 33 times since 1923, are resuming their gridiron face-offs after a 14-year hiatus.

Alums of both HBCUs will be happy to hear that the heated rivalry returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 10 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Now billed as the AT&T Nation’s Football Classic, kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. Specially priced tickets will be sold for those who want to sit in the Morehouse or Howard sections, while general admission tickets will be available as well.

The annual football game dates back to 1923 when the rivals met for the very first time. Since then, Howard has dominated, with a 21-10-2 record. Morehouse now gets a chance to catch up, as the game will be played for the first time since 1996.

Howard, the nation’s top-ranked HBCU in many college surveys, and Morehouse, the Atlanta-based male-only HBCU that boasts Spike Lee among its storied alumni, will undoubtedly draw many of both schools’ rabidly loyal former students to cheer on their teams. But football is not the only thing going on.

Events around the Nation’s Classic include an HBCU College Fair, a Morehouse chapel service with Morehouse President Robert Franklin delivering the keynote address; a HBCU networking event, an AT&T Kickoff Rally, an HBCU Alumni networking event and a presidential symposium on black men and stereotypes. All events are free and open to the public, with the exception of the game.
