Women’s History Month

A Black female artist by way of Alabama is honoring the involuntary sacrifices of her enslaved ancestors with a sculpture proudly deemed as the Mothers of Gynecology.

The Destiny Education Project is a BIPOC-led 501(c)3 founded in the fall of 2021 by 16-year-old Burbank, California resident Destiny Helligar as a solution after being attacked with racist slurs in her middle school in 2018. 

Civil rights icon Mary McLeod Bethune, a White House mainstay during the Roosevelt era that played a prominent role in his Black Cabinet, makes her grand return to the U.S. Capitol in the form of a statue that will sit in the National Statuary Hall.
