WHAT ABOUT DELAYED PUBERTY?
Delayed puberty is a separate condition from early puberty. It occurs when there is lack of or incomplete development of sexual characteristics past the usual age of onset of puberty. In boys, no enlargement of the testes by age 14 or lapse of more that 5 years from the start to the completion of growth of the genitals. In girls, no breast development by age 13 or a lapse of more than 5 years from the beginning of breast growth to the first menstrual period or no menstruation by age 16.
WHY DOES IT ALWAYS FALL BACK TO OBESITY?
Obesity is just one risk factor for early puberty. Others include being a girl, being African-American, being exposed to certain hormones, having certain medical conditions, etc. Unfortunately, obesity has so many disease-related complications.

Early puberty is associated with psychological concerns like depression and anxiety. This can be an emotionally tough time. I encourage you to calm yourself first. Empower your daughter with knowledge about puberty and how to take care of herself during menstruation. Check in with her often and encourage her to ask questions anytime. Also, your pediatrician can help explain things and determine if she needs to see a pediatric endocrinologist or a mental health counselor.

Does “pretty big in stature” means that you and your brother have obesity or are you both very tall? Either way, both obesity and tall stature can have multiple contributing factors. Therefore, it would be difficult to solely attribute it to eggs.
IS IT TRUE WE SHOULD LIMIT THE USE OF LOTIONS WITH PERFUMES FOR GIRLS TOO; DOES IT CAUSE THEM TO GROW BREASTS AND PUBIC HAIR?
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals in various personal care products are a concern for both boys and girls. Review the links I have provided to build your list of chemicals to avoid. If you find them on the ingredients list, don’t purchase or use the product.
IS STRONG BODY ORDER IN CHILDREN A SIGN OF A PROBLEM?
It can be, especially if there are other signs of puberty. Discuss it with your pediatrician and have an examination.
DOES EARLY PUBERTY CAUSE PROBLEMS LATER IN LIFE?
Early puberty has health implications: shorter adult height, psychological problems, risk of certain cancers, diabetes, and heart disease. If a child has early puberty, he/she should be seen by a pediatric endocrinologist to determine the best course of treatment.
