There is a congressman in New York who wants to make it illegal to call the police on innocent people. DL agrees with this move saying that it should be held to the same standard as yelling fire in a crowded theater. Especially since nowadays there is no way that you don’t know what you’re doing is wrong. It’s been all over the internet and the news and you see that people are losing their jobs and you still decide to call. Your actions should have legal consequences.

I agree. They need to start enforcing that law. It is ridiculous to dial 911, just because you can and you don’t like the color of a person’s skin. A fine that will hurt their pockets and hopefully make them think.

I totally agree that a person who calls the cops on innocent people should be held accountable for doing so. This is just another form of harassment to cause harm to people for no reason other than to satisfy some sick need to hurt people. So I believe you should be charged heavily for doing this which is a crime.

There are laws already on the books in most states, its up to law enforcement and the DA’s office to enforce and prosecute, i.e.,:
Virginia’s penal code calls 911 abuse a “class 1 misdemeanor,” which is punishable by up to a year in jail, a $2,500 fine, or both. In fact, in Virginia it’s illegal to make false reports of emergencies …. Most states have similar interpretations. Enough already just start arresting the abusers.
