While on board the 2018 Fantastic Voyage, Kym Whitley and Jenifer Lewis sat down and had a very touching conversation about Lewis’ legacy and what life has taught her about herself.
“I wrote this book girl The Mother Of Black Hollywood. I wrote this for the millennials. To let them know they can come through the fire,” explained Lewis.
Both Kym and Jenifer have such bursting personalities, so you know the two were on a level during this interview. But Jenifer brought it home when she talked about being herself in an industry that wanted her to be one thing.
“I was too much… I refused to be one thing that they could market. You see they just wanted me to sing…I’m all things. I wasn’t willing to give up one so that you can market me. I’m Jenifer Lewis. And I do it all. I was born with it. ”
