LOS ANGELES (AP) — Model Keri Claussen Khalighi has come forward to accuse Def Jam Records mogul, Russell Simmons of sexual misconduct in 1991, when she was 17 years old.

In a report Sunday in the Los Angeles Times, Khalighi says that Simmons coerced her to perform a sex act and later penetrated her without her consent in his New York apartment. She said the film producer and director Brett Ratner, who has also been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment, was present.

Khalighi said she asked Ratner, then a music video director and Simmons protege, for help.

“I’ll never forget the look on his face,” she told the Times. “In that moment, the realization fell on me that they were in it together.”

Simmons, now 60, has denied the allegations in a statement, which he also posted to his Twitter account. He says everything that occurred between himself and Khalighi was completely consensual and with her “full participation.”

“I’m deeply saddened and truly shocked to learn of Keri’s assertions as to what happened over the course of that weekend,” Simmons said in the statement.

He also detailed his own support of the #MeToo movement and the “brave men and women who have spoken out over the past month.”

Simmons’ statement, issued through his spokesman Eric W. Rose, also included three witness statements in his defense. Two were anonymous and one was from Simmons’ former assistant Anthony McNair, who said that he did not notice any visible signs of distress from Khalighi during that time.

The Times report also includes four additional allegations against Ratner, who was previously facing at least six allegations of misconduct from women including actress Olivia Munn. His attorney, Martin Singer, has denied all allegations.

Among the new accusers are, Tanya Reid, who was working as a hotel employee in Miami 1994 when she was 18. She says that Ratner, who had asked her if she wanted to appear in a music video he was shooting, exposed himself to her and pressured her into sex acts.

Representatives for Ratner did not immediately respond to requests for comment Sunday.

The article also describes a “boy’s club” culture among Ratner and Simmons’ circle of friends, which includes disgraced writer-director James Toback, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by hundreds of women, Roman Polanski and producer Robert Evans. Ratner’s home in Beverly Hills, Hilhaven Lodge, was a frequent gathering spot and the alleged site of some of the improprieties.

Khalighi told the Times that she was motivated to come forward after reading the Nov. 1 report about Ratner. She says she called Simmons first and “urged him to disclose his past behavior” during a 27-minute conversation in which she says he did not deny her claims. She also says she spoke to Ratner about the matter 15 years ago.

“I’m coming out because what I’ve experienced privately is not matching what they are saying publicly and hypocrisy to me is repugnant,” Khalighi said. “It’s time for the truth to come out.”

  1. I see old Gene Simmons is now accused by two women. I do not feel sorry for him for all the lies he was spending abut other people. Now look.

  2. My issue with this case is that the girl was 17 and Russell said she consented. A teenager (17 or younger) could want sex and be a whore all night long, but the LAW says that there is NO consent because the person is a minor. Those men (Simmons and Ratner) should have had sense enough to not harass a minor–or anybody, really, but the law will defend those who are underage.

    • This is why cases should be fought in COURT and NOT the public. Right now, the waters is muddy all together unless it is proven or those admitted it as well as those who lie (Look at Nelly’s case that many wont talk about now but they threw Nelly under the bus before knowing what is facts).

  3. Let’s be careful MEN …it could be you or your son next..remember those druken frat parties in college…did she say YES or did you talk her into it ..maybe you are a C.E.O. now..20yrs ago you touched her a**..or kissed her with-out her permission…so before you pass judgement on these men..let’s NOT throw stones when you may live in a glass house yourself ….Many MEN jumped on Bill Cosby but who’s laughing now …many powerful and successful MEN are scared BUT if you are broke “no worries “..no women are telling on pookie working at Walmart ..

Bob Sumners used to try to get women who auditioned for Def Comedy Jam to sleep with him. I have been saying it for years. Went upon deaf ears until now. Someone needs to call him out. I am sure that he got away with it because Russell turned a blind eye.

  5. No sympathies for these type of negro, dumb enough to think they can do these stupid things with these white women. They get what they ask for. Dummies

I didn’t read (on this thread) where people were defending R. Simmons or wanted to date him. Maybe it’s just me tho, I have a hard time comprehending what I read. Anybody else?

Sexual assault is despicable!! Grown-ups seducing and coercing children is despicable. And coming out and telling about sexcapades after the fact is just as despicable, especially if one does it for the money, fame or to attempt to ruin someone else’s rep or even their lively-hood. Some of these accusers are relaying incidences where they, as adults, gave in to these people of their own accord and are now accusing these people of abuse. It’s NOT abuse if one grown-up seduced, talked you into, or coerced another grown-up into sex or a sexual act. Come on, if you didn’t want to do it and gave in, your partner doesn’t become a criminal. And yes, we are at a point in many of these cases where it’s one word against the other. Who knows what really happened, but them and God unless someone records it. I heard a story told this morning about the Roy Moore case where one of his accusers not only went with him willingly, but she made several dates with him before her friend talked her out of continuing. Granted, he was a grown man and had no business pursuing a child but, it says a lot about her character and upbringing that she was hanging out and laying down with this grown man! It is getting to be just too much and we are sick to death of it all!!!

Christianforreal, I have to agree, these allegations become one person’s word against the other’s and in 20, 30, hell 2 years, the “evidence” could all be destroyed by then. I do believe some of the accusers without a doubt, but there are some that I think went in expecting something and accepting what they got to get what they wanted and later it became an “assault”. I can’t take everything at “face value” just because you say it, don’t make it true, prove it. But I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt until, they prove otherwise.

  8. I don’t care if it’s been 50 years if the victims wants to come forward it’s their right and if you imbeciles saying why wait years to name your abusers…Go screw yourselves! You Black females defending Russell Simmons for what??? He never wived or dated you!

    • Who is defending Russell? No one but people are NOT going to just believe people who make a claim. We do not know and NEITHER do YOU Autumn2016. I got for you, MOST people MEN AND WOMAN have been harashed by someone. I called them JERKS; this is not the same as someone who is using their power to threaten someone’s job and so forth. I can make the difference; however, if you are going to care if someone believe you when you wait many years to talk, true or not, you are going to be disappointed because now people do not know what to believe (sorry but we have women who also LIE. so which is it. You do not know and neither do I). All of this now is turning into a mockery and that is the sad part.

      • And let me add this: I am glad some news are saying what I posted yesterday about what are people going to do instead of firing people because someone make a claim without proof. We are talking Russell. To those who may want Russell to be gone. Ok. now, what are you going to do about the NON FAMOUS person who may live down the street from you or YOUR OWN FAMILY member who you KNOW did stuff like this 10, 20 years, ago (or even YOURSELF to someone including women who touched men without asking and if an man dismiss you, you want to label him gay and every other name because he did not conform to women advances), will be outrage and go to their jobs as janitors, business men, city workers, production line workers, managers, etc and get them fired for doing the same thing as AL Franken (again, Weinstein and Kevin Spacey is different story), I think not and that is why is becoming a mockery.

    Amen Amber,
I had this long “A” post all set up to post on this subject, but you said everything I was going to say. I felt I’m always on some “soap box” so I’d give you guys a break today hahaha.
However, I have told guys who’ve approached or even touched me without my permission to step the f**k off, because the next time it won’t be pretty. But I’m not going back years later to call them out, if I didn’t handle it then, “now” is too late. And I agree, once you let them know how you feel, they don’t bother you anymore. What I didn’t do what “play along” until I got what I wanted or needed from them. I nipped the sh*t in the bud and they respected or not, I didn’t care, but they didn’t bother me anymore. EVERYONE of us ladies could tell a story about a jerk who was disrespectful them, it’s what we do about it. So…nothing new here.

    • I agree. And here is the other thing. Are these people going after these men because they are famous who may have been jerks? To the people who want to protest these men (again, this exempt Weinstein, Spacey, and a few others) are you going to do the same to the man who lives down the street, your family members (male or female. Lets be real, some women have touched men), etc who works as janitors, business people, teachers, professors, production line workers/managers, etc who did the same thing 20 or 10 years ago? If not, then it is NOT about the issue, it is about the status.

    • I think most people are getting tired of this. Waiting all of these years and then expecting people to believe you now instead of fighting it when you had the change IN THE COURT OF LAW. Now we do not know who is telling the truth or not. With Weinstein, Kevin Spacy, I believe their accusers and these men use their power against to jobs; however, all of this other stuff are just people dealing with people, if true, who were just jerks as WE ALL HAVE DEALT with in our lives. You know how many men have approached me and said things, PLENTY, so now what, I am gong to go back 20, 15, 10 years, bring it up and try to get them fired (when I told them off, they left me alone and I had no more trouble with these men). NO.
