Alonzo Mourning‘s Zo’s Winter Groove is in its 18th year of raising money for the Mourning Family Foundation’s benefiting programs Honey Shine, Inc and the Overtown Youth Center.

To date the Foundation has raised over $23 million dollars to support education and mentoring programs and the former NBA player talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about what to expect January 13 – 17 in Miami, Florida and why giving back is important.

“Regardless of the things that you don’t have, you are blessed. it’s important to use your blessing to bless others. I wouldn’t have imagined our philanthropic efforts would’ve have grown to this level. A lot of these individuals and young people have to play the hand they were dealt. They have the ability but not the opportunity,” Mourning said.
