18 years after The Love Movement was released, A Tribe Called Quest is finally reuniting to release its final album.

The iconic Queens rap group announced the new project with a handwritten note penned in black and gold marker by Q-Tip. The album is due on November 11.

According to the letter, the group was inspired to get back into the studio after performing on The Tonight Show last year. It was their first television appearance in over 18 years.

“As we left 30 Rock I felt the need, we all did, to get back to the studio and start that cookup!!” Q-Tip wrote. “So we got to it!!”

The group began working on the album last November. Though Phife Dawg passed away in March due to complications from diabetes, the group came together and finish the project with the help of Busta Rhymes and Consequence.

The news shouldn’t come as a complete surprise since Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid hinted at the forthcoming album back in August.

“It’s something special. It’s one of the things I’m most excited about over everything we’re working on,” he said on the Rap Radar Podcast.

“We will complete our paths of rhythm,” Q-Tip concluded in his letter. “Join us!”

  1. Know it all on said:

Yea they got that beat when you be driving down the major deegan in NY chilling whips clean, music bumping, real smooth old school on time joint.yea I can git wit this.

  2. Can’t wait for this album to drop. Hip-Hop, or Tribe for that matter will never be the same without Phife Dawg RIP, but this album is way overdue. It’s time the old school get back into the game big time. This is real Hip-Hop, the way it’s supposed to sound, not the watered down, luke warm pop-hop they tryin’ to brand as Rap. Even Drake is singing on the Mic for heaven sake, just when he was on the meters as a dope MC, he starts singing. Smh… Yeah I said it! It ain’t his fault though, but that ain’t Hip-Hop! And it defiantly ain’t how the Rap game is supposed to be, catering to the record labels prediction of trends Smh…

Back in the day, they thought the whole Rap movement was a trend, and a bunch of noise. It was groups like Tribe Called Quest that came on the scene and kept Hip-Hop alive.

Check The Rhime “You on Point Tip, all the time Phife”, The Midnight Marauders album with Award Tour. They had nothing but flava with rhymes and they were indeed rhymin’, not singing. It’s nothing wrong with singing, don’t get me wrong, R&B is a whole another topic but Rappers Rap, and Singers Sing. Let Marvin Gaye be the best at what he did, and let the Rap game do what it do… Yep “the Night is on My Mind, but the Sun still shine.” even at Midnight – Much respect to Tribe Called Quest doing it one last time! Word!
