Lamarr McDow may continue to stay on the good side of his girlfriend Marie Holmes, but many have wondered why Holmes has opted to spend up to $21 million to keep bailing him out of jail.

Holmes deep pockets come from winning $188 million in a Powerball lottery in North Carolina back in 2014. With all that money, the question remains: Why does the 27-year-old single mother of four blow a lot of it on McDow’s bail out fund?

Chatting with London’s Daily Mail, McDow responded to the queries in his first ever interview as he referenced the one-year-old child he and Holmes have together.

“We are a couple, and I am the father of her youngest child,” McDow said while referencing the child, named Ebony, who was born after Holmes won the lottery. “This is what people do for each other. She has the money and she can do what she wants with it.”

Prior to Holmes striking it rich, McDow said he supported her and her four children. He goes on to share that despite moving into a modest $275,000 home, the family were forced to leave in light of racist neighbors.

“People are just jealous because of how much she won and people want to see me locked up in jail,” said McDow.

Once she hit the lottery, Holmes ultimately agreed to a lump sum payout of $127 million after winning a third of $564 million — the fifth largest jackpot in North Carolina. When it was all said and done, Holmes ended up with $88 million after taxes.

Despite striking it rich and the easy life that would entail, things have anything but for Holmes as she deals with friends abandoning her and constant requests for money from family members.

Still, Holmes has stood by McDow as she spent $15,000 on a Rolex watch for him.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple lives a modest lifestyle no and McDow running an auto repair business Holmes set him up with. Adding to this is the new pickup truck McDow currently drives.

Despite Holmes’ newfound riches, McDow admits that she has been “deluged” with letters from people begging her for money.

“When money comes, there are more problems,” Holmes told him, according to McDow.

  1. Just because you have ONE child by this miserable man doesn’t mean you have to stay with him, He is using you for your money, wake up sista.

I believe she has a trust fund set up for her children that they can’t touch until they’re 26 years old. She also hasn’t lost millions on her boyfriend/bail. The bail is set in the millions and I believe she only loses it, if he doesn’t appear in court. So far, he’s appeared, and she’s only given away/forfeited something to the tune of $683,000. Still quite a lot of money on her baby’s father. I think I would just cut his @ss and check and bounce out of the state of NC. Why stay? Friends abandoning her, distant family coming out of the wood works begging, mail from complete strangers. She just needs to leave and stay under the radar for a bit. Leaving a neighborhood because of racist neighbors? She has enough money to buy a couple of houses where ever she wants. Surely, she can’t be surprised about racists living in NC or anywhere for that matter. She should be laying out on a beach somewhere earning 20%.

  3. Millions . . . Millions . . . on misdemeanor charges? Think about that for a few minutes. The county is taking advantage of this entire situation and this young lady cant see it for what it is.

  4. She is the perfect example of some who does not value herself, her children, her future, their future or the value of a $ and her behavior is teaching her children to do the same. It’s really sad because she probably thinks the well will never run dry but it will if she continues to bail him out. The boyfriend is right, it’s her money and she can do what she wants with it, I just pray she comes to her senses and realizes that what she is choosing to do with it is doing more harm than good to her, her children and their lives.

  5. On one of the judge shows this past week, a lady won over $600 thousand dollars at a casino playing Wheel of Fortune and relatives and friends came out of the woodwork and she gave all of the money away and didn’t save anything for herself to live on. Now she is flat broke. She had loaned her brother $3,000 to go to truck driving school and he knew it was a loan because she was near the end of her money. She sued him because she needed the money to pay her rent and he said it was a loan and she couldn’t that it wasn’t a loan. He didn’t have to pay her and wanted them to be as tight as they were before the loan.

She kept $88 million and has already spent $21 million which is a little under 1/4 of the money. She is destined to be broke and if i heard correctly she has a special needs child who could really use the money for it’s future. Realy sound financial planning and this guy is a drug dealing, gang banging boyfriend, real smart. Line her up for the show “Those who won big lotteries and BLEW t all”

  7. What would you do? on said:

Two peas in a pod. They are made for one another. If she is willing and naive to bail him instead of going on with her life. Oh well. If you know better you will do better. I guess she doesn’t know any better.

It’s her money, and she can do as she pleases. I just hope she’s received some sound financial advice and socked a lot of her winnings away and not just have it available to keep bailing him out of his mess. However, it would be sad when (considering the rate she’s going), she’s broke again and asking for money on a go find me page. I hope she has at least put away money for her children’s future, especially the one with special needs.

If you are of color and you read this article and/or have commented, then you should care that the bigger picture here is knowing how to keep oneself and your family financially secure. Money don’t last forever when you spend it foolishly and believe me that is exactly what she is doing ….baby daddy or not! And what example does that set for the children that she probably don’t think this affects. Whew…education is a beautiful thing!

  10. I’m beginning to feel sorry for this young lady. She cant win. I’m sure family and friends are mad because she didn’t do enough for them in their eyes, yet she is spending millions on him. She surely alienated lot of ties in her circle. Well when the money is gone she still has him and the kids. . . isn’t love grand!

Its her money she do what she wants with it,I don,t care.I,m going to buy a powerball ticket an hope I hit the jackpot an if I do you will never know.

This is a distraction to keep us from addressing bigger issues. I personally could care less if she is bailing him out or not. She’ll be the one broke, not me. Good luck to her.

  13. And if friends are “abandon” you, that only means they were NEVER your friends and you need to thank God something came out (winning the lottery) that help you see those folks were not your friends.

  14. Problems only come with money if you make it a problem. Who cares if people are writing you, tear the letters up. Who cares if relatives comes, some relatives are just happy to know someone from their family won; but if you get “beggers” who are relatives, tell them no.

  15. No, people are upset that she is spending money on bad BEHAVIOR. Also, if Mr. McDow has all this knowledge about what folks think, I hope he uses some of that KNOWLEDGE to know to stop acting stupid for this woman to stop spending her money on getting him out of jail. if this couple can not see that in what comments people are making, they are stupid. Jealous people worry about what kind of house you are buying or car, etc. but most people are hoping she keep her money and avoid lawsuite from people that YOU keep getting in trouble with.

So true, he is talking about everything but what is obvious, him. Who is writing his story, I thought bail was 10% which is no were near 1/4 of her winnings. Although it’s still to much to spend on someone who is demonstrating that they are not worthy.
