Kansas City’s Adam’s Mark hotel is now down a staff member, and rightfully so, after a racist act of heartless mockery left the general manager with no other choice but to fire one of their female supervisors. Kansas City attorney Stacy Shaw shared this photo of a Black doll that she says the employee hung from a noose in the company break room to mimic thee death of Sandra Bland. The doll was hung with a white trash bag in place of an actual noose, which is also how authorities allegedly found Sandra in her cell.

The hotel general manager issued this statement to KCTV 5 News shortly after the employee was terminated:

“This isolated incident is completely inconsistent with the values and culture of the Adam’s Mark Hotel Kansas City. This disturbing occurrence took place late Tuesday evening, July 21st. When brought to the attention of management the following day, an investigation was initiated. Immediately following the investigation, the employee was terminated, Friday, July 24th, prior to the start of their next shift. The Adam’s Mark Kansas City is committed to maintaining a positive working environment free of unlawful harassment.”

Thanks to attorney Shaw’s decision to publicize the photo through social media, the incident is now gaining traction and has sparked a discussion about the whether or not the company culture is overdue for a revamp.
