Officer Darren Wilson spoke publicly for the first time since the Ferguson grand jury decided not to indict him for the shooting death of Michael Brown, Jr. In his ABC News exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos, Wilson recounted the confrontation that lead to the death of Brown on August 9th.

Wilson described his physical confrontation before the shooting  with Brown as a “5-year-old holding on to Hulk Hogan. That’s just how big this man was.”

When Stephanopoulos  asked why he didn’t stay in the car after Brown ran away from him, Wilson said, “My job isn’t just to sit and wait. I have to see where this guy goes” Wilson expressed that he felt it was his duty to chase after Brown because “that is what we are trained to do.”

Stephanopoulos asked Wilson if there was anything that would have prevented the killing from taking place. Wilson said, “No.”

When asked if the shooting would haunt him for the rest of his life, Wilson said that it would not. He said, “I don’t think it’s haunting. I’ll always think it’s something that happened.”
