Liz Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love) was recently featured in an article on Huffington Post that discussed why she was “against balance,” i.e., the notion of seeking balance in life. The author and spiritual warrior explained how seeking balance can be detrimental to simple living, and that the goal shouldn’t be for balance, it should be for presence wherever we are at any given moment in order to embrace the beautiful chaos that makes life worth living. I couldn’t agree more.
The mindful practice of being present is what makes the ebb and flow of life more manageable. We become more willing and able to take the good with the bad, and in the process, we get better at being more grateful for all the good. Life was never meant to be anything but lived; as we are all spiritual warriors, we have the capacity to create our own idea of what that entails along the way. We’re in for an upswing this week with the Sun’s entry into Fire sign Sagittarius on Saturday, which coincides with a New Moon (and thus, a new beginning).
