Listen Live

Basically, the Lifetime movie Aaliyah Princess of R&B, which aired on Saturday night, was an epic fail for Lifetime. Even casting director Twinkie Byrd tweeted that she’d have to “pick herself up, dust herself off and try all over again.”

Black Twitter was brutal, creating the trending topics #LifetimeDisrespectsAaliyah and #LifetimeBeLike, complete with hilarious miscasting memes. They also dragged executive producer Wendy Williams. But one of the night’s most heated critics was producer Timbaland, who should know, as he worked with and nurtured Aaliyah’s career, producing several of her biggest hits along with Missy Elliot.

Timbo was so pissed that during the airing of the film, he took to Instagram and let it all hang loose. He urged his followers to boycott the movie and posted several of the most hilarious memes.

Once the movie was over, the producer had no problem gloating to fans who watched the flick anyway … taunting them and the network with these video posts:

TMZ noted that Timbaland wasn’t the only celebrity who had choice words for the movie. DL Hughley put his two cents in — saying: “Aaliyah is the Soul Plane of Lifetime!”
