How Will Supreme Court’s Ruling On Texas Law Affect Black Voters?

The United States Supreme Court upheld Texas’ voter ID law. As a result of the ruling, 600,000 registered voters, mostly Black and Hispanic, may be disenfranchised because they lack the proper form(s) of identification.

“NewsOne Now” guest host Jeff Johnson and the Straight Talk panel (George Curry, Francesca Chambers and  Joseph Williams) take a look at the Supreme Courts ruling and the potential impact it will have on the midterm elections which is just two weeks away.

  1. It won’t affect me since I have a valid driver’s license, birth certificate and social security card. Please stop this notion that black Americans are against presenting voter identification. I haven’t met a single person of color who is not fugitive or illegal immigrant concern about not having identification for voting. These are not the concerns of people in urban and rural black communities. There is a serious disconnect with affluent minorities and leaders and the people they think they represent.

  2. This so-called law is taking place, because Republicans cannot win an election fairly; and they had to get the Judges to go along with it. In turn, the Judges got paid off from the wealthy donors. How shameful. People should still make the effort to VOTE!

  3. This is the 21st century Jim Crow version of the “Poll Tax”!!!!!!

We have Scalia, Roberts and Uncle Thomas of the Supreme Court to thank for this!!!!!!!
