Unfortunately, this news will probably come as no surprise to most. We can only shake our collective heads and be thankful it wasn’t worse.

We have reports on two incidents stemming from BET Awards “pre-parties.”

The first bit of negative news associated with the BET Experience/Awards weekend in Los Angeles involved a shooting in which one person was killed and four injured at a party.

Los Angeles police officer Drake Madison says shots were reported at a Vermont Avenue venue shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, killing one person and wounding four others.

Madison says it was not immediately clear whether the shooter attended the gathering or fired from outside. City News Service reports the shooting occurred at Monalizza Restaurant and Banquet Hall.

Madison says that although the party was related to the BET Awards,  it was not part of the official event schedule.

On Saturday night in Hollywood, a stabbing occurred at a BET Awards pre-party filled with rappers. The stabbing resulted in a serious injury and  TMZ has footage of the aftermath (see it below).

Law enforcement officials say a man in his 20’s was stabbed inside Lure Nightclub Saturday night after a fight broke out … and in the video, he’s seen laying on the curb waiting for help while a panicked friend yells at cops to hurry the ambulance.

According to reports … the man was rushed to Cedars-Sinai and he’s currently in stable condition.

The party was hosted by Philly-born rapper Meek Mill. The Game was also in attendance.

Reports don’t indicate that either was involved in the altercation.

The annual BET Awards aired Sunday night live from the Staples Center.

  1. Can’t blame BET this killing is going on in most black neighborhoods. Most of the parents are not doing their job. Some are in jail or using drugs and expect Grandma to be the parent, well Grandma is to old. There is a good reason women are only able to conceive til a certain age. Some were never made to go to church so they have no moral compass. I truly don’t know what is going to become of these young black boys.

This is what happens when you reward bad behavior…rap music, gang violence, drug dealing…All of which has created a genocide in our communities by blacks to blacks…We should not endorse, buy or celebrate any of them….Let them kill themselves….better than innocents being killed and children…All of which they have killed…At some point black America we are going to have to separate the wheat from the chaff and save who wants to be saved. Because our youth are going to have reach for it and beyond the ignorance of their parents and the degradation of their own communities.

No one is surprised by this at all. When you have this Rap Music Thuggery Culture, this type of behavior is expected, I’m shocked that it was just one person dead! To hear Chris Rock say this awards show is celebrating black excellence in music, I literally threw up!!!! This BS is what you call black music excellence.

Loud and ill mannered as well. However they are plenty of cultured, educated and enlightened blacks out their, but they mingle in their own circles because uneducated usually want to malign them as if being educated and successful is less black…Not all blacks are from the hood or arer from one parent families.

  5. That shit is sad. The perception that large group of black folks can’t get together without violence. Young folks need to get there stuff together.
