Roc Nation has officially taken over Ebony! In celebration of their annual Black Music Month issue, the magazine has released four special covers with Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West and Rihanna.

The June collector’s edition crowns Bey as ‘The Diva’, Hov as ‘The Mogul,’ RiRi as ‘The Rebel’ and Ye as ‘The Poet’. According to the magazine, the issue pays tribute to the industry’s leaders, pioneers and game changers by saluting their unprecedented impact on Black music.

“It was an honor to write the four cover stories for Ebony magazine’s Black Music Month special collector’s edition,” said cultural critic Kevin Powell. “Rarely do you see today’s unstoppable stars like Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West and Jay Z packaged with legends like Tina Turner, Donna Summer or Tupac Shakur, but we did it because when it comes to Black music, it is important to note the deep connection between the musicians of yesterday and today.”

All four covers hit stands tomorrow, so be sure to pick up your copy and tell us which one is your favorite.

In related glossy news, the June cover of Essence has caught our eye as well. Check out this fab pic of 2014 Essence Music Festival headliner Prince, plus quotes from his cover story, below!

On working with The Revolution:

“I’m not putting down The Revolution, even though people would love to see us together again. I owe a great debt to them. But I’m doing something else…”

On record execs:

“Every time I talk to the heads of large companies, they’re always at the beach,” said Prince. “Middle of the afternoon. What are you doing? ‘Oh, I’m at the beach with my kids.’ So we’re working to send their kids to college. And to the beach. We’re not supposed to accept that.”

What about Esperanza. I can’t remember her first but she won a Grammy for the musical talents. Or, Maysa, now that talent. Shame music today is so boring.

Ebony Magazine, now I know why I will NEVER subscribe to your magazine! If this BULL____! Is what you’re considering music today, how sad! And I’m sure Mr. Johnson your founder is rolling over in his grave. How dare you insult people with this nonsense? None of these so call performers on your magazine covers deserve this, they all are just watered downed acts, displaying no real talent at all!!!! And this is just nasty and disgraceful! How could you Ebony sink to this level of having no class no talent, no real insight at all???? What about India Arie, John Legend, Neyo, Miquel, Chrisette Michele, Pharrell Williams, Maxwell, Sisaundra Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, that’s REAL talent and shame on you Ebony for overlooking Real Singers!!!!!!
