Here we go again.  Some lawmakers are throwing temper tantrums and yet again holding the American people hostage instead of telling them the truth.

It’s hard for some politicians to tell their constituents the truth. Especially after not being completely above-board with them for years.

It’s easier for them to give talking points, often repeated on tv and radio by partisan tv hosts, pundits and of course the politicians themselves.

And that’s exactly whats been happening when it comes to the Affordable Care Act what everyone calls Obamacare.

But it matters more now since the running of our government is in peril.

The American people are in peril.

Livelihoods are in peril.

Because some republicans… not all.. have lied themselves into a corner and threatened to shut down the government unless Obamacare is no longer funded.

Talk about selfish.  Talk about taking your marbles and going home. Let’s talk about the facts here.

According to fact check dot org since 2009 there’s been a lot of willful misinformation given to the American people about Obamacare by both Democrats and Republicans. But mostly by Republicans .

The three biggest whoppers told about the law are:

It’s a jobs killer.

It’s going to raise insurance premiums.

It’s going to affect medical care.

Let’s discuss the first one. Jobs killer.

The Claim: 8.2 million Americans can’t find full-time work partly due to Obamacare. says: that is False.

That’s the total number of part-time workers who want full-time jobs, and there’s no evidence from official jobs figures that the law has had an impact.

It’s that simple. It’s false.

Now to number 2. Premiums.

Claim: Premiums are going up because of the law. Premiums are going down because of the law. says: It depends.

If you’re uninsured and have a preexisting condition, You’ll likely pay less.

If you’re uninsured but young and healthy, you’ll likely pay more.

And if you’re  insured through your employer, you’ll likely won’t see much change either way.

And finally let’s talk about medical care.  The claim, you won’t be able to choose your own doctor, the claim that government will come between you and your doctor, that is flat out false.

The truth is that it helps you with your insurance company because the government, it doesn’t become between you and your insurance system because the government is in the middle helping you with that.  And I could go on.  But the truth about the law doesn’t sound nearly as interesting as a bunch of rhetoric that rallies up people and pits them against each other.

And as says the law is long, and it’s complicated, and it’s still being implemented.  But think about this, de-funding the law through that means will be detrimental on the lives of people, on the economy and that’s not the way to go.  And even the Republicans know it.  And that’s why they abandoned Senator Ted Cruz who is pushing this.

Now even they know that it’s not worth it, and so do the American people.  The polls show, which is really interesting, they’re going to blame almost equally Republicans and the Obama administration if there is a shutdown. Republicans and the Obama administration.  It didn’t say anything about Democrats, the bigger loser, if this does happen, will be you and it will be me.

TOM JOYNER:  So do you think they’re going shut it down on October 1st?

DON LEMON:  They’re not going to shut it down.  Even if they do shut it down things will still run, you’ll get your check.  But if they want to save jobs they shouldn’t shut it down because workers who work in national parks, even the military, they may not get their checks for a while, they’ll get it, but they’re going to affect American workers and not themselves.  They shouldn’t shut it down, but I doubt that they will.

SYBIL WILKES:  And don’t they have to look at jobs that they may lose in another year?

DON LEMON:  Well, if they were in jeopardy of losing their jobs they might think twice.  If they were really, if they really wanted to do the right thing they would tell the American people the truth.  They would tell the American people that it’s not a job stealer, but it’s easier for them to give rhetoric and try to save their own hide than to tell the American people the truth.

Forget factcheck, think for yourself. If you are a business owner with x number of employees and the gov mandates that you provide (pay for) insurance for x number. In order for you to stay in business and make a profit would you not reduce your number of employees down to v in order to not have to pay those premiums??

Also you all need to understand that if you do not have insurance you will be “penalized” a fee (tax) from your annual tax refund. If no refund is due then you will have your pay garnished for that amount??

Dont take my word (or Don Lemons), read about the law YOURSELF!

  2. I am 100% behind Obama. Voted for him both times. But I have to say, the amount of hate that the Bush before him recieved, was pretty heavy as well.

  3. As a person who is a part time worker and getting her hours cut, I don’t think we should listen to lawmakers. We need to listen to those of us that are being affected by this and new HIPAA laws that are cutting hours. Even though I am looking for full time employment if not a career, I’m starting to see part time positions that require a Master’s Degree. I also don’t appreciate how we’re required to pay for something that we may not be able to afford. At the end of the day, someone is lying about this whole mess, and I really don’t trust a web site to tell me that millions of workers aren’t being hurt. Also now 32 hrs is considered full time and most places won’t give a part time employee more than 20 if that. Again, someone is lying.

The truth of the matter is that there is no truth. And those that know the truth probably have more to gain by not saying anything. The truth of the matter is that some of us citizens of this country are hostages to the oppressive American culture, way of life, laws, and historical evil of capitolism; period. Humn, what do you think can be done about it…….?

Sounds like, according to this article, the people who stand to gain the most for this “act” are the “elderly” and people who aren’t working at all or working part time. Thus for the past five or six years the Obamacare “act” has been the bright idea of our first African American president and now that we have the facts checked online we can continue to support this and other similar arguments, for topic. MLK and the folks invoulved in whatever “movement” that we thought was a victory for our race would be extremely pleased with these truths.

      Sit down. Thank you.

  5. Good words today by Don. Just the facts!!! I (and most do) that the actions taken by most republicans are because they don’t want to see a BLACK president succeed in ANY way. Obamacare is one of his greatest achievements so far, so they would love to destroy it. They don’t want him to accomplish ANYTHING. I WISH someone like Don in the media would do a fact check and compare something. Compare all of the actions/statements taken against Obama verses other Presidents. Has the amount of things done and said against Obama been equally done in the past against other Presidents? I’m willing to say NO!!! This should let all American’s know that these actions and statements are fueled by something extra versus past presidents. That something extra is RACE!!!! What else could it be?

DTOWN we must all remember that God is in control and that he chose President Obama just like he chose Moses. An unchosen person could not have had the amount of wisdom, grace and control that our President has. The amount of hate that I see on a lot of these comment boards is very alarming. FEAR is false evidence appearing real and is used by Satan to stop us from victory. Pray for your President and his family (can you imagine the affect this has on his family). Don’t be misguided by negative attacts get the facts. Thank you Don for giving us the facts; I did not understand and was almost pulled in by lack of knowledge. Don’t get angy at the haters; pray for them; they will either get it or they won’t. Lastly, thank you for your well stated comment dtown.
