“Yeah, I’ve spoken to him on the phone and had texts from Obama, of course,” Jay-Z said.
“Yes, that’s happened,” he continued, referring to the text messages.
Jay-Z says President Obama is the regular guy we know him as. He says they share a love for sports and he uses a lot of analogies when they speak.
“I don’t know if this is like breaching national security, but he was like–when he was getting elected the second time–he was like ‘Hey, you know, fourth quarter, just give me the ball.’ I said ‘word’.”
He further admitted he gets a little star struck around the president, a big admission for one of the most successful musical artists in the country.
Jay-Z and President Obama’s relationship goes back to the 2008 campaign, when candidate Obama said the way to handle political mudslinging was by brushing one’s shoulders off – mimicking Jay-Z’s trademark move. Fast forwarding to the most recent 2012 election, his wife Beyonce, also known as King Bey, performed at the president’s second inauguration.
