Sources say season three finalist Jennifer Hudson has been approached to join the singing-competition show for its 13th go-around. The “Spotlight” singer has yet to confirm any negotiations, but an “Idol” insider did revealed that the deal is “95 percent there.”
As an Grammy Award-winning singer and Academy Award-winning actress, show executives look to Hudson to bring constructive criticism to the singing hopefuls from a place of experience.

To help boost declining ratings, producers have also reached out to first “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson, and past runner-ups Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken.
