Kai, the hatchet wielding hitchhiker sounds like it could be a great name for a movie and after you hear the story of this real-life character’s heroic effort; we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this story retold on-screen.
According to Kai, the hitchhiker who was picked up by 54-year-old Jett Simmons McBride was thrown by surprise after the man suddenly started to refer to himself as Jesus and decided to ram his car into a black PG&E utility worker.
McBride, then proceeded to jump out of his car and attempt to attack the injured man. That’s when two women came to the man’s defense, who McBride then attacked as well.
Luckily, Kai was there to save the day with his hatchet because he beat McBride off of the two women. The women credit Kai with saving their lives and the utility worker’s life as well.
McBride was later arrested for attempted murder. The unnamed utility worker survived the attack but he did suffer two broken legs.
