After finding herself embroiled in a sex scandal, Florida’s Lt. Governor, Jennifer Carroll, is finally speaking out.

Carroll spoke on the issue Saturday in Orange Park, Florida at the opening of a campaign office for Mitt Romney.

As we reported, Carletha Cole claims she walked in on a sexual encounter between Carroll and Carroll’s travel aide, Beatriz Ramos. Cole worked as an administrative assistant to Carroll. Cole is a grandmother and a minister.

“The problem is that when you have these accusations that come out, it’s not just one person you’re attacking,” Carroll responded. “It’s an entire family. My husband doesn’t want to hear that. He knows the type of woman I am. I mean, my kids know the type of woman I am. For twenty-nine years – I’m the one that’s married for twenty-nine years. The accuser is the one that’s been single for a long time. So usually black women that look like me don’t engage in relationships like that.”

We don’t have to respect Herman Cain for obvious reasons. The GOP tricked and abused Colin Powell so bad that I felt sorry for him. However, I don’t think party affiliation had anything to do with the comment. It just wasn’t well thought out (you can tell by the syntax) or planned.

I don’t think her comments were nearly as ignorant as the jokes Jackie Reed made about the people massacred in Colorado. Reed is the one who owes an apology.

No need to explain anything, people will say mean and nasty thing no matter what. God bless and keep you and your family.

I liked all of the comments because we are each entitled to speak our piece. For me though, all politicians are getting their wake-up call to act more responsible in their positions or suffer the consequences if there is dirt on you. We will hear the truth eventually, but it will be old news by then. I will truly be glad when this country gets over itself with the judging of race, sex and religion. This is what this country is all about, allowing freedom of speech and respecting others for being different. Yeah, yeah, ideally, but we have to start somewhere. And this forum and others can make a difference by openmindedness and tolerance, not judging. That’s my piece and I’m sticking to it.

I had the opportunity to see her speak earlier this summer at my nephew’s high school graduation and she did well, but im very concern that she is very disconnected from people and reality. Most of my lesbian friends look like her. ( Lipstick and Stilettos) And what does her being married for 29 yrs mean? We all know how that can be a cover up for some folks.

Why are we engaging in these types of irrelevant issues? Who cares what she is or isn’t?
We have high unemployment , violent crimes on the increase in Chicago, Miami etc…. isn’t this more important to Black people?

Why do we choose to believe a so called eye witness account , and not her word?
Remember that” drive by smear campaigns” is not so funny when it’s directed your own candidate.

We need to respect our brothers and sisters Republican or Democrat, why do we belittle our own people ? Is it because they are supposed to think like most Blacks who vote 97% Democrats? We also must respect our people like Herman Cain, Former Secretary Rice and Powell, including this sister who is a Republican , I have a feeling it’s because she is a Republican,. Why are we taking sides
