It may be more than two decades since his marriage to Halle Berry ended in divorce, but David Justice still lives with being at the center of speculation involving physical abuse Berry suffered back in the day.
And he’s had enough.
In an interview with “Inside Edition,” Justice opens up about the effect the rumors have had on him as he pleads with Berry to tell the truth on who really hit her. Although she hasn’t named anyone, Berry has said that an ex once hit her so hard that she was left deaf in one ear. Since then, Justice said that all eyes have been on him as the abuser.
“I’m telling everybody I didn’t do it,” the 49-year-old former baseball player, told “Inside Edition” regarding the talk about him and Berry. “You know I didn’t do it.”
“People would say, ‘yeah, I heard it was David Justice,’” Justice added.
Overall, the former sports star mentioned that Berry’s silence on the matter has been damaging to him.
“If it was me, then say it. Say it,” said Justice. “But she can’t say it because she knows it wasn’t. So she’d rather not say it and just let you go ahead and believe it.”
Directing his remarks to Berry, Justice continued to express himself, saying, “It would’ve been cool if you had come out a long time ago and let people know it wasn’t me. That would’ve been cool. But you didn’t do it.”
Justice’s comments come months after he went in on Berry after reports surfaced last November of her splitting from her husband Olivier Martinez.
“She could’ve squashed [the rumors] at that time,” an angry Justice wrote in one message in a series of tweets about the Oscar winner. “I have 3 kids and a wife for 15 years. It was important that my kids knew that their dad didn’t do [it].”
