Rapper Bobby Shmurda has had plenty of time to reflect on his young life while confined on Riker’s Island since December 2014 – awaiting trail for massive gun and drug trafficking charges – now he can add a new charge to his caseload. The rapper was arrested on Rikers after his girlfriend was seen slipping him a shank during a visit, officials said.

Arrested while you’re already locked up? That’s kinda like getting fired on your off day.

20-year-old Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, was busted June 21 after a guard allegedly saw his ride-or-die chick, Kimberly Rousseau, 18, pull a black latex glove balloon wrapped in black electrical tape out of her bra and hand it to him. The guard opened the balloon and found a “sharpened metal object,” according to a criminal complaint.

Shmurda is currently being held on $2 million bail for allegedly being the “driving force” behind a violent street crew responsible for a number of shootings and drug sales. His trial begins in October.

He and his Brooklyn Bonnie were charged with promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a weapon. Vibe reports that Rousseau is pleading guilty to the charges, while Bobby is said to be pleading not guilty. She is due back in court in July.

Brooklyn-born Shmurda is best known for his song “Hot Nigga“, (released in July 2014) a song that introduced us to the “Shmoney dance,” which went viral after the release of the music video. The song peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it has been remixed and performed by numerous other artists including Lil’ Kim, French Montana, Juicy J, and Gunplay.

On December 17, 2014, police arrested Shmurda and 14 others, including his brother Javese and his fellow GS9 musician Rowdy Rebel. Police charged Shmurda with conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, and gun possession; charges against the others included murder, attempted murder, assault, and drug dealing. He pled not guilty and faces 25 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
