Lil Wayne attended a “Stop the Violence” celebrity basketball game in St. Louis on Sunday night, where he nearly incited a brawl by spitting on the ref, according to TMZ.

Weezy became so furious with a referee during the game that he charged at the guy, allegedly spit on him and sparked a bench-clearing fight.

Wayne’s Young Money team was taking on a team coached by the event promoter, Loose Cannon Slim. Witnesses claim Coach Weezy thought the ref was blowing a bunch of calls.

Video of the incident shows Wayne running after the ref, who makes his way toward the nearest exit as the madness ensues. Wayne’s team is seen rushing in to restrain him. The clip isn’t all that clear, and you can’t see the entire altercation – witnesses claim Wayne had already spit on the ref at this point. Someone called police to report an assault, and although cops responded, no one was arrested.

Not a good look when you’re a popular celebrity starting a fight at a charity event that’s promoting non-violence.

On the bright side, no one got shot. If gun violence could be replaced with a good old-fashioned rumble, not only would death rates decrease but we’d get some cool music out of it.

Proceeds from the game went to Put Down the Pistol, an anti-gun-violence program based in St. Louis.

Meanwhile, Lil Wayne continues to wait for the legal battle over “Tha Carter V” to wrap up. He has also made recent headlines for showing up hours late to concerts and having his tour bus shot at by rival Blood factions. No one was injured in the shooting, which occurred at outside an Atlanta nightclub back in April.
