5/13/15-

Dear Tom,

I would like you to please grant a Christmas Wish for my mother, Mrs. Pearl Deshields.  My mother became a widow at thirty-four years-old after the death of my father.  She went on to successfully raise four children while she worked full time to support us as a sales associate.  Since education was so important to my late father, my mother managed to send all of us to private school and then on to college, as a single parent.

In September of last year, my mom was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  It was a shock to us all, since in her 74-years she’s been a relatively healthy vibrant and active lady.   Upon diagnosis her oncologist immediately started her on a rigorous treatment program.   Every three weeks for six months she was given a combination of 4 different types of chemotherapy drugs.  In March she had a full mastectomy.

My mother has been the epitome of strength, courage and faith throughout the whole ordeal.  Thankfully, all her cancer is gone and she is slowly recovering and she is expected to live a long and full life.

Ten years ago my mother moved into a nice 55+ adult community.  The residents there are responsible for the exterior of their own unit.  Now that my mother is home recuperating, she would like to sit on her deck and get some fresh air.  However, she won’t because it bothers her that the deck is so shabby, because the door to her storage unit is damaged and desperately needs to be replaced.   Unfortunately, the door is a custom order since it must match all the others in the unit and is very expensive.

Tom, my mother is on a fixed income and with all the added expense of her recent health issues; she is not able to afford it.   can you please grant my mother’s Christmas wish and help her get a new door, a screen for her sliding glass door to the deck and the materials needed to paint and repair, so she can enjoy being outside.
