Orange Is The New Black dynamo Laverne Cox is about to strut her stuff in front of a courtroom. Laverne has been tapped to star on the CBS legal pilot Doubt. The upcoming project centers on a smart, successful and stylish defense attorney at a small law firm, who finds herself in a romance with a client who may or may not be guilty of a grizzly crime.  The Wrap  is reporting the lead has not been cast as yet but Laverne will co-star as Cameron Wirth, a transgender Ivy League-educated attorney who is ambitious yet empathetic.

Cameron is also considered funny, fierce and a legal ace who goes the extra mile for her clients due to the injustice she’s dealt with herself. According to the site, Laverne’s role was specifically created for a transgender actress. Sounds like diversity in action. In addition to playing Litchfield Penitentiary’s firecracker hairstylist Sophia Burest, Laverne has also guest starred on Bravo’s Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce, MTV’s Faking It and will also guest star on an upcoming episode of The Mindy Project for Fox.

Laverne is getting it isn’t she? Who would’ve thought someone who first grabbed viewers attention on VH1’s now defunct reality competition series, I Want To Work For Diddy, would be tearing up Hollwyood. Go head Laverne! So far, no word on exactly when the pilot will start production and hit television screens.
