Keenan Ivory Wayans‘ got his wheels turning again.

The comedy veteran, and originator of the “Scary Movie” franchise, recently landed a new series on ABC, The Hollywood Reporter has leaked.

The show centers around  a cookie cutter white guy who marries into a sprawling, tightly-knit African American family.  Wayans will write and executive produce the project by 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment. (There are no plans for Wayans to star.)

Keenan’s goal this time around is appealing to a multi-generational audience, offering the potential for broad viewership along the lines of the hit, Modern Family. Additionally, it has the ability to lure African-American viewers, a demographic that’s currently underserved in the broadcast marketplace.

Wayans, repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman, is best known in TV circles as creator and host of Fox’s In Living Color and as host of his own short-lived syndicated talk show.

More recently, the comedian has experienced success as a writer, producer and/or director on movies such as Scary Movie, White Chicks and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
