10-year-old Asia Newson has become Detroit’s youngest and cutest entrepreneur. The Grio is reporting that Asia sells candles with her dad and has already displayed boss behavior and she’s not even a teenager yet! “I teach young people, like myself, how to make their own money,” she said on a local news program that highlights news businesses in Detroit.
Asia’s business is called Super-Business Girl and evidently, the young woman runs a tight ship! “Some of my trainees are older than me, but I’m ten, this is my company and I’m the boss of the company so you have to listen to me, and if you don’t then I don’t know what to tell you.” Well, then! I guess when you’ve become a boss at a young age, you really have to be the boss! Asia has no problem speaking her mind. In fact, it’s something he mother, loves most about her. “She inspires me. She’s kind, she’s outspoken and she’s intelligent,” said Asia’s mother.
Asia has bigger plans than being a business prodigy. I would like to have a store front in his [Dan Gilbert--prominent Detroit business leader] building and the Compuware Building. That’s my main goal,” she said. There’s nothing holding Asia back from hitting these ambitious goals. A Detroit start-up, Bamboo Detroit, began advising Asia and her family nearly three months ago. The co-founder of the company can’t help but gush about the impressive child and he has all the confidence in the world that Asia will be one of the most successful young people in the country.
“She already has it right. She already knows about customers, she knows how to structure a business. It’s incredible,” said Bamboo co-founder Mike Ferlito.
