Forget about portioning your food for weight loss because according to researchers at the University of Nebraska, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard, marijuana does the job.

The study looked at 4,657 adults, 579 of whom were habitual marijuana smokers and found that the smokers had smaller waistbands, writing, “we found significant associations between marijuana use and smaller waist circumferences.”

The report was published in the American Journal of Medicine, found that the smokers had decreased levels of the insulin hormone by 16% compared to non-smokers.

Insulin’s job in the body is to monitor the metabolism of fat and carbohydrates, this leaves the smokers a bit slimmer because they are able to metabolize quicker.
