Gospel singer Juanita Bynum was jailed on Thursday, April 18, in Dallas, Tx.

According to public jail records, Bynum was arrested on a warrant for her failure to appear in a civil proceeding in which a promoter, Al Wash, is suing the singer for not performing in a play. Wash says he paid her for the performance.

Bynum was booked at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and was released on Friday after appearing in a Dallas court to answer questions about the case. The 2007 judgment requires Bynum to $140,000 to ALW Entertainment.

“She has disclosed the whereabouts of her assets and her business dealings,” entertainment attorney David Small said.

The gospel singer has faced difficulty in recent years. In 2008, Bynum was involved in a domestic dispute in Atlanta, Ga. Her then husband, Thomas Weeks, pleaded guilty to assaulting her.
