America voted and they chose Phillip Phillips as the the new "American Idol."
The 21-year-old pawn shop worker from Georgia beat 16-year-old Jessica Sanchez of California to claim the title. There was a record 132 million votes cast in the finale.
Phillip is the show's eleventh winner and the fifth male to win in a row. His new single, "Home," will be released this week.
Jessica would have been the the youngest American Idol Winner had she one.
