Christian movie fans can rejoice as they’ve had a lot to choose from in theaters lately. T.D Jakes’ “Woman Thou Art Loosed: On The Seventh Day” did respectable numbers in its release last month and Tyler Perry fans are looking forward to another installment of Madea with “Madea’s Witness Protection” on the way. But there’s yet another option coming to a theatre near you. “A Beautiful Soul” is the latest in faith-based movie options and it opens this Friday.
Pastor and gospel artist Deitrick Haddon stars as secular music star Andre Stephens in a movie loosely based on the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol.” Stephens has lost his faith, abandoning his church roots for an R&B career. Things seem to be going well for Stephens until a tragic incident forces him to reevaluate his life, career, future and soul.
“A Beautiful Soul” co-stars Robert Ri’chard of “One On One” fame, who plays Stephens’ best friend. Harry Lennix of “’The Matrix” fame, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Bishop Noel Jones, former NBA star John Salley and Golden Brooks from “Girlfriends” appear in the film as well.
You can see the movie in an AMC theatre in the following cities: Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Dallas, Indianapolis, New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Detroit.
