A new spin on the life and legacy of Jesus Christ is now in theaters. “The Carpenter” has been rolled out to 500 screens nationwide.

The film follows Oren, a MMA-style fighter, whose life is changed when he meets a mysterious and pleasant carpenter. Oren is an adopted orphan whose career as a fighter leads him to the city of Nazareth in Galilee. While there, he meets Yeshua, the carpenter who takes Oren under his wing. The mortal fighter and the immortal Son of God serve their community side-by-side and become more than just a carpenter and apprentice.

“Almost a decade ago, my dad and I were building a shed when we came up with the idea for the film,” said film’s star Kameron Krebs in a statement. “We were talking about how much perfection goes into the craft, and we ultimately began discussing what a perfect occupation carpentry was for Jesus. That made us wonder what it would be like to work under his tutelage as an apprentice, and from there, the film was born.”

Krebs also serves a producer on the movie. It’s a family affair. Kamreon’s brother Kaulin co-stars and Kenny Krebs, their father, served as a co-writer and executive producer. Each of them believes the film will stand as a testimony from their family to the world.

“We promise audiences have never seen anything like ‘The Carpenter,’” Krebs said in a press release. “It’s the marriage of MMA-style fighting, with a fierce, metal soundtrack, all wrapped into a Biblical setting. I knew from day one on set that this film was a once-in-a-career opportunity that I’d never forget. I think our entire cast and exceptional crew would agree.”

The film is directed by Garrett Batty who did “The Saratov Approach” and “Faith of Angels.” Both Batty and Krebs believe “The Carpenter” is the perfect marriage of indie and Christian filmmaking.

“The movie marketplace is full of so much material that distracts from Jesus,” Batty said. “We’re grateful that our passion project gets to stand side by side with other recent faith-based films.”
