Fall is often a great month for new releases and this year is no exception. Classic R&B is being well-represented which is nice for folks who just don’t think artists like 21 Savage and August Alsina (no shade…but…) are necessarily the future of R&B.
Here are 5 albums coming out that we know will satisfy our craving for some good music.
TAMIA
Album: Passion Like Fire, September 7
Why You Should Check It Out: Tamia still makes grown folks’ music with a sexy vibe

MARSHA AMBROSIUS
Album: #NYLA, September 14
Why You Should Check It Out: Marsha’s dynamic videos are always on the pulse of today’s issues, coupled with her powerhouse vocals and as always, some hot lovemaking jams

ANTHONY DAVID
Album: Hello Like Before September 21
Why You Should Check It Out: Anthony David is kind slept on despite a beautiful, resonant voice and the fact that he always makes good music. This is a concept album based on compositions, both familiar and deep cuts, that were composed by the legendary Bill Withers. Look for David’s interpretations of the man he says has been the most influential artist in his life.
LENNY KRAVITZ
Album: Raise Vibration, September 7
Why You Should Check It Out: Lenny Kravitz’ locs are back and so is some new music. Expect it to be soulful, funky and multi-genre with plenty of love, fashion and passion mixed in. (Don’t you love seeing him play himself on Star lol)!
PRINCE
Album: Piano and a Microphone 1983, September 21
Why You Should Check It Out: The late, great Prince made so much incredible music in his almost four-decade career that his rehearsals were as good as some other folks’ albums. This release, of an 1983 rehearsal at the piano, proves it. And it so intimate you can hear a sick Prince sniffling on the “Mary Don’t You Weep” track. Though some have had bootlegs for years, this is the first time they’ve been packaged.
