‘Power’ Spinoff Starring Larenz Tate May Be On The Way
A spin-off of the Starz series Power based on Larenz Tate’s role of a shady councilman is reportedly in the works.
According to The Jasmine Brand, the project “is currently in the works and has not yet been finalized,” and Tate would be “joined by other Power cast members, but their identity or involvement has not yet been revealed.”
50 Cent, an executive producer and star on the series, has yet to confirm or deny the spinoff. Neither has creator/showrunner Courtney A. Kemp nor Tate himself.
Tate’s role of Jamaica, Queens Councilman Rashad Tate was upped from recurring in Season 4 to series regular for the upcoming fifth season, which premieres on July 1 at 9 p.m.
Power follows James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a drug kingpin living a double life who in season 4 sought to find redemption.
