Black women are usually the last people to take care of themselves between having to take care of family and work. Self-care is important for a long and healthy life.
Jacque Reid goes Inside Her Story with actress and now certified wellness expert Troy Byer about what Black women can do for better self-care.
“Believe it or not the one thing to lose weight is to find a way to be stress-free in your life,” explained Byer. Sounds hard but it is possible.
Often times we think going to the gym will take care of it but actually certain exercises make losing weight impossible. “Anything that elevates your heart rate,” like cycling or running can cause your body to hold onto weight according to Byer.
“You don’t want to put stress on your body so you do yoga, you do walking, you do certain stretches. You want to reduce stress,” explained Byers.
