The Illinois midterm elections are around the corner and it’s important for people to know whose running, what their plan is to make the state better and if it’s what you the voter believe in.

Roland Martin talks with Sharon Fairly & Kwame Raoul both African-American Democratic Candidates running for Illinois State Attorney General about their platform.

“I think it’s so important that we have an Attorney General that doesn’t have any ties with political leaders that she might be called on to investigate one day,” explains Fairly. Corruption is an issue that Fairly plans on dealing with through a clean slate.

Raoul has been in the game for a while, having taken over Barack Obama’s senate seat in Chicago when he left for his presidency.

“I know the community, that’s why I moved to abolish the death penalty in Illinois,” explains Raoul. “I passed a law enforcement package before Laquan McDonald because I grew up as a Black man in Chicago. ”

If you’re in Chicago, take some time to get to know these two candidates and see which one represents you.
