Eddie Murphy has expressed that he wants nothing to do with the 10-year-old daughter that he and Mel B share. In 2007, Mel B gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown.

OK Magazine reports as Mel B is involved in a heated custody battle with her less than close husband Stephen Belafonte, Murphy’s intention for a relationship with the child came up.

According to Belafonte’s lawyer, Grace Jarma, she informed the courts that she’d been trying to contact Murphy to talk about Belafonte’s role as stepparent. Belafonte claims that Angel has “called him dad since she could talk.”

Murphy’s relationship with Mel B has been rocky over the years. After the birth of their daughter,  he claimed she wasn’t his, which generated a lengthy paternity battle.

Jarma had told the courts that Murphy has had no contact with Angel since birth. Sh says that she tried serving Murphy with court papers, which he ignored.

On a Dutch television show months after it was revealed that Mel was possibly pregnant by him,  he said: “I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test.”

The test confirmed that Murphy was Angel’s father.

When a man does not pursue a relationship with his child,  he’s considered an absentee father, even if he’s taking care of them financially. Eddie is a father of 9. The latest, a girl, Izzy Oona, was born to his girlfriend, Paige Butcher in 2016.

Do you think, if these reports are true,  that Eddie should participate more in his daughter’s life or should Stephen have the parental rights here?
