Roland Martin: The Nunes Memo Didn’t Change A Thing
The phrase “Nunes Memo” has been running around Washington, DC followed by the hype in releasing the four page document that details the FBI allegedly abused their surveillance power to monitor a former Trump campaign advisor. What was supposed to inflict damage ended up doing nothing.
Roland Martin talks with Rep. Terri Sewell a member of the House Intelligence Committee about the effect of the release of Devin Nunes memo and what it means.
“I have to tell you having sat on the House Intelligence Committee for the last four years, you know you would think that we would check partisanship at the door. This is about national security and classified information,” explained Sewell. “But it’s clear that our chairman supported by the House Speaker Ryan the Republican members of the House Committee publicly released a misleading allegation against the DOJ and the FBI as a shameful attempt to discredit these institutions and undermine Mueller’s investigation. And at the same time to give cover to the White House. I’m very happy that it ended in a dud.”
However, a minority memo created by minority members of the House Intelligence Committee will hopefully be released. “Our hope is that the minority memo that we drafted that the minorities of the committee drafted will get released today. We’ll vote on that today,” explained Sewell.
